Course Description:

This course is for those who have a particular interest in acting, music, dance or technical theatre and wish to make use of the full range of activities that Performing Arts offer. It is for students who are able to enjoy the discipline of group work as well as developing personal skills. Performing Arts students contribute to College life in a variety of ways and take part in high quality productions in all areas of theatre, dance and music. You may also audition for the College’s resident dance company.

In addition, students will study at least one Functional Skill in English, maths or ICT as part of their main programme.

The music lecturer saw my potential and encouraged me to work on my singing.

  • Performing Arts Production Process
  • Performing Scripted Plays
  • Performing Dance
  • Musical Theatre Performance
  • Crewing for Stage Performing.

Entry Requirements:

Normally a minimum of 3 GCSEs (grades A* to D) or level 1 diploma in a related subject. All applicants will be given an audition/interview where they must demonstrate practical ability and the necessary commitment, motivation and aptitude to succeed.

Career Opportunities:

The entertainment industry is one of the country’s major employers and opportunities for work extend much further than simply performing. A career in the performing arts might focus on education work (teaching), arts administration or management (arts centres or theatre companies).

Course Progression:

Successful students could progress onto the Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting, Dance or Musical Theatre).
