Course Description:

This programme is aimed at level 2 stylists wishing to learn the skills needed to become a senior stylist.

Emphasis is placed on students working to an advanced level and developing their individual skills and talents.

Delivery is through class tuition, guided assignments and ongoing practical assessment. Examination of knowledge is throughout the academic year.

In addition students will study at least one functional skill in English, mathematics or ICT as part of their main programme.

Course Content:

This Level 3 Advanced Diploma is a twelve unit award which includes the following:

  • Working in Hairdressing
  • Monitoring and Maintaining Health and Safety in the Salon
  • Consult With and Advise the Client on Hairdressing Services
  • Promote Products and Services to the Client in a Salon
  • Cut Women’s Hair to Create a Variety of Looks
  • Style Women’s Hair Using a Variety of Techniques
  • Colour Hair to Create a Variety of Looks
  • Perm Hair to Create a Variety of Looks
  • Creative Hairdressing Design Skills
  • Contribute to the Effective Running of the Business
  • Display Stock to Promote Sales in a Salon
  • Monitor and Maintain Levels of Stock in a Salon

Plus Functional Skills units undertaken in:

  • Information Technology
  • Communication
  • Application of Number

Entry Requirements:

Hairdressing Level 2 and successful completion of an interview.

Career Opportunities:

Employment in industry at a supervisory level, technical support with major product manufacturers, London salons, television/film studios, or on cruise liners and leisure complexes.

Course Progression:

Students could progress to higher education courses, such as a Foundation Degree in Salon Management.
