Course Description:
This introductory course is aimed at those looking to work in the complementary and alternative therapies sector.
Learning takes place through classroom activity, role play, demonstrations and working in a realistic salon environment for practical assessment and case studies.
In addition, students will study at least one Functional Skill in English, maths or ICT as part of their main programme.
Course Content:
- Principles and practices for complementary therapies
- Business Practice for complementary therapies
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies
- Knowledge of less common pathology for complementary therapies
- Provide body massage therapy for complementary therapies
- Provide reflexology for complementary therapies
- Reflective practice for body massage
- Reflective practice for reflexology

Health, safety and hygiene in complementary therapies
Entry Requirements:
Normally a minimum of 3 GCSEs (grades A*-C) in academic subjects including English. Maths and science preferred. Successful interview and taster day.
Career Opportunities:
On completion of the level 3 course the qualification enables the learner to work in salons, spas, independent health clinics and health farms or working within their own practice.

Foundation degree in Complementary Techniques.
