Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 2
Course Description:
This course is aimed at those looking to work in the beauty industry. The course allows learners to develop and practice the skills required for employment in industry.
Learning takes place through classroom activity, demonstration and role play. Assessments are carried out in a realistic working environment.
In addition, full-time students will study at least one Functional Skill in English and/or mathematics as part of their main programme.

Course Content:
- Working in Beauty Related Industries
- Follow Health and Safety in the Salon
- Client Care and Communication in Beauty Related Industries
- Promote Products and Services to Clients in a Salon
- Salon Reception Duties
- Provide Facial Skincare
- Remove Hair using Waxing Techniques
- Provide Manicure Treatments
- Provide Pedicure Treatments
- Apply Make-up
- Provide Eyelash and Brow Treatments
- Head Massage
- Create an image based on a theme within hair and beauty
Entry Requirements:
Normally a minimum of 3 GCSEs (grades A*-D) in academic subjects including English. Maths and science preferred. Successful interview and taster day.
Assessment:
The above units will be assessed practically and through a written assessment. Written tests will be completed to prove overall competency. Your group may be made up of male and female students. You will be required to practice on each other without prejudice. You will be provided with external models, but may be required to find your own models as well. A charge will be made for all clients. Due to awarding body requirements, learners will be expected to: - Remove all visible jewellery including facial piercing during practical sessions - Dermal anchor/implant piercings are not permitted anywhere on the body - Wear professional black uniform and shoes for practical sessions (shoes should be flat and closed in) - Nails must be short without nail polish or extensions - Good standard of personal presentation and the ability to work with others.

Beauty therapist in a wide variety of salon settings.
Course Progression:
Students may progress to a Level 3 in Beauty Therapy or related part-time courses.
