Beauty Therapy Techniques Diploma Level 3

Course Description:
This advanced course is for those wishing to follow a career in the beauty industry and build on their existing qualifications. The course focuses on the development of practical skills required for employment in the beauty therapy industry.
Learning takes place through classroom activity, demonstrations and working in a realistic salon environment for practical assessment and case studies.
In addition, full-time students will study at least one Functional Skill in English, maths or ICT as part of their main programme.

- Promote and Sell Products and Services to Clients
- Provide Body Massage
- Provide Facial Electrotherapy Treatments
- Provide Body Electrotherapy Treatments
- Provide Indian Head Massage
- Apply Hot Stone Therapy Massage
- Apply Micro-Dermabrasion
Entry Requirements:
Normally Beauty Therapy Level 2 or equivalent. Normally a minimum of 4 GCSEs (grades A*-D) in academic subjects including English. Maths and Science preferred. All applicants will be required to attend an interview and taster day.
Assessment:
Learners will be assessed practically when performing treatments on a client; this may be during a salon session when open to the public. The class may be made up of male and female students. Learners will be required to practice on classroom peers without prejudice. While completing practical assessments, candidates will be observed and assessed for communication skills and professional conduct as well as practical techniques in all areas throughout the treatment. Learners will also be required to complete a number of guided assignments as self-study; these will be graded pass, credit or distinction. Gola on-line exams must also be successfully completed for each unit to gain the Diploma. Traditional classroom activities, presentations, group work, seminars and trips are also included in the course. Due to awarding body requirements, learners will be expected to: - Remove all visible jewellery including facial piercing during practical sessions. - Wear professional black uniform and shoes for practical sessions (shoes should be flat and closed in) - Nails must be short without nail polish or extensions - Good standard of personal presentation and hygiene - The ability to work with others and be a model for others to practice their skills - Willing to complete treatments on client whenever required. - You may need to provide models for all practical assessments.

Employment in salons, health farms, television, film studios, on board cruise liners and hotels throughout the world.
Course Progression:
Students could progress to higher education courses, such as an HND Beauty Therapy, or complementary therapies.
