Course Description:
This programme is aimed at those candidates not yet at the required entry level for the full-time motor vehicle programme. It is designed to develop the literacy, numeracy and employability skills of candidates, alongside gaining practical and technical motor vehicle skills and knowledge in our workshops.
This course is delivered through a variety of learning situations including class tuition, assignments, personal study, research and practical workshops.
In addition students will study functional skills in English, mathematics and ICT as part of their main programme.
This course is a foundation learning programme and so in addition to the vocational qualification and functional skills, a work skills qualification will be undertaken too.

- Functional Skills in Numeracy and Literacy
- Introduction to Engine Technology
- Introduction to Chassis and Systems Technology
- Workshop Safety
Entry Requirements:
Normally a minimum of 2 GCSEs (grades A*-E) and satisfactory completion of the four day 'Motor Vehicle Engineering Preview' course is required, details of which will be given at interview.
Career Opportunities:
A junior role in the motor vehicle industry.
Course Progression:
Progression to Level 1 motor vehicle part-time or full-time programmes subject to approval of a progression board.
