Course Description:
Work Prep is a Foundation Learning course for students who require additional support. It offers a mixture of work experience in an area of your choice and covers skills necessary for working life. College-based training provides the opportunity to improve functional skills and work towards achieving vocational qualifications at level 1.
A student-centered approach involving a wide range of class-based sessions and practical activities.
In addition, students will study at least one Functional Skill in English, maths or ICT as part of their main programme.
This course is a Foundation Learning programme and so in addition to the vocational qualification and Functional Skills, a WorkSkills qualification will also be undertaken.
Course Content:
Students will have the opportunity to sample a vocational area.
Learners will have the opportunity to follow personalised learning programmes within Foundation Learning.
Entry Requirements:
A previous successful work experience is essential and all candidates are required to successfully complete a preview programme, which will take place at the end of June or beginning of July. Students need to be seeking vocationally-based training and to be working towards entering the world of work. An ability to participate in periods of extended work experience is essential.
