Course Description:

This person centred course is for learners who have a real commitment to undertake work experience or supported employment within the local community.  Learners will attend class based sessions to develop skills for employment and to help sustain that employment.  Learners will also work on an individual basis with a member of staff who will provide job coaching in the workplace.  There is an emphasis on practical work and a range of teaching methods and resources are used to suit the individual’s learning style. 

Course Content:

This course is for people who have a real commitment to undertake work experience, sheltered or supported employment within the local community.  Learners will study Adult Numeracy and Literacy (Entry level to Level 1) as part of their main programme; however the development of Personal, Social and Vocational skills is also prioritised. 

Entry Requirements:

Learners must be working at Entry Level for both literacy and numeracy which will be assessed as part of the admissions procedure. In addition, learners need to show a commitment and willingness to work towards agreed goals and participate in all course activities.

Career Opportunities:

Progression into work experience, sheltered, mainstream or supported employment.

Course Progression:

Following successful completion of Work Plus it may be possible to progress to another adult Foundation Learning course.
