Higher Education Performing Arts Courses

Performing arts courses run in parallel with music and technology disciplines at Colchester Institute. Students benefit from cross-over skills and gain a greater degree of versatility, which culminates in assignments and productions. We teach acting techniques, vocal skills, production, movement studies, dance and drama improvisation, communication and devising, script writing, directing, physical theatre, and theatre criticism. There are a myriad of opportunities to perform and students work towards a final production project where all aspects of the production are covered, including choreography and administration.

Students work as a 'company' and may have the chance to tour with their show away from the College. The theatre is not a forgiving environment and as a consequence we expect commitment and hard work. A demonstration of the rewards, such hard work, has led to a number of our students going on to take part in major UK and international productions.
