Colchester Institute

Colchester Institute's Centre for Music and Performing Arts boasts a long tradition of promoting a yearly series of top quality events. This year, the Centre has no less than 16 professional events and a wealth of other student events and mini festivals.

In the CMPA Live! Concert Series, the professional events cover a wide range to reflect the expansion and development of courses in the Centre, with the accent on variety together with a distinctly international flavour. With ticket prices at £10.00 per event (£6.00 concessions) this is certainly value for money! Even better value for money is the purchase of a season ticket. At £80.00 it gives you admission to all professional events at the equivalent of half price AND allows you free entry to all student events too, including Symphony and Choral concerts and a staged Opera.

Wine and soft drinks are available at every professional concert and selected events will offer a licensed bar.

The Performing Arts team produce many fully staged performances, productions and showcases at Colchester Institute but also perform in local venues such as the Mercury Theatre, the Headgate Theatre and the Lakeside Theatre at the University of Essex.

The College at Braintree

The Centre for Music and Performing Arts presents over 15 student public performances during the academic year ranging from music gigs and showcases to full scale plays and musicals. Previous productions have included West Side Story, Oklahoma!, Kiss Me Kate, Oedipus Rex, A Midsummer Nights’ Dream, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sweet Charity and Tommy!

In addition to staged performances and productions at the College, students have performed at Sadler’s Wells Theatre and local venues such as UNEX Towerlands.
