Student Profile - Richard Muldowney
National Diploma in Hospitality Supervision
Richard Muldowney, aged 19 from Colchester, has just completed his National Diploma in Hospitality Supervision. Having initially enrolled at The Sixth Form College, Colchester, Richard found that the style of learning wasn’t right for him and decided that a vocational approach would be more appropriate.
As Richard was working part-time with Milsoms Hotels and Restaurants, he decided to enrol at Colchester Institute to gain the relevant qualification to progress with a career in the industry.
Since studying at Colchester Institute, Richard’s role at Milsoms Hotels and Restaurant has expanded and he is now Banqueting Manager at Le Talbooth. He told us, “I enjoy learning in a practical environment where I am able to refine the skills I need in my job role and gain qualifications to help me further my career.” As part of the course, Richard has also had the opportunity to gain six weeks’ work experience as a chef, which gave him the opportunity to understand the role of others in the industry.
Richard has now enrolled on the Foundation Degree in Management of Hospitality at Colchester Institute, which he will begin in September 2008. He hopes to continue his education further and gain a BA (Hons) too.
In his spare time, Richard enjoys socialising with his friends and enjoys a variety of sports including football and tennis.
