BA (Hons) Health and Social Care
Lucy Adams, aged 23, joined the College after completing A Levels in Psychology, History and French, to study for a BA (Hons) Health and Social Care and is currently in her final year. Lucy chose to study at Colchester Institute as she felt that the course content met the requirements that would allow her to go on to train as a teacher, she was also relocating to the Colchester area.
The course provides students with the opportunity to carry out work placements in a choice of institutions, Lucy chose to visit various schools, whilst other students may complete placements in hospitals and care homes.
Lucy told us, “The style of teaching and module content has been varied and interesting. I have been able to meet lots of great people from different career paths and walks of life.”
In the future, Lucy plans to become a primary school teacher and has been accepted on a PGCE training course starting in September. Lucy feels that the course has set her on the right path to achieving her career goals, “The course has enabled me to improve my skills when working with children, parents and other professionals” she said.
