Louise Bellamy
BA (Hons) Early Years
Louise Bellamy, aged 19, came to Colchester Institute after completion of her A Levels to study for the BA (Hons) Early Years. Louise commutes from her home in Chelmsford and chose to study at Colchester Institute because it is close to her home and the course gives her the opportunity to carry out work placements alongside academic study. She said, “I feel that first hand experience gained through placements is as essential as studying.”
Once she has gained her degree, Louise hopes to be a primary school teacher, her course has given her the opportunity to complete work placements in reception year classrooms and nurseries, which she feels was a great experience.
She said, “I have also received first hand advice from teachers and really got a feel for what being a teacher means; its roles and responsibilities, which has made me feel more confident about my chosen career path.”
Louise said, “Each module within the course varies so much and therefore I am given the opportunity to look at careers from many angles and develop my knowledge.”
In her spare time Louise is very active, she enjoys taking classes at the gym and dancing.
