Sue Wills

Sue Wills, from Brightlingsea, is the Higher Education programme leader in Childhood Studies and teaches on the Foundation Degree in Early Years and BA (Hons) Early Years at Colchester Institute.

Sue’s first degree was in sculpture, which she achieved at what is now Staffordshire University. She later went on to gain a PGCE in Art Teaching at Goldsmiths College, University of London. After qualifying, Sue taught art at a local comprehensive school in Colchester and, after a four year maternity gap, went on to teach infants for 18 years.

After working with many student teachers, Sue decided she wanted to pass on the knowledge she had gained within her long years in the industry, to other aspiring teachers, and subsequently joined Colchester Institute’s Centre for Education where she has taught for three years.

In her spare time, Sue enjoys many hobbies but her favourite pastime is singing with the University of Essex Choir, which she has been part of for nearly 15 years. Sue has had the opportunity to tour with the choir performing in France, Canterbury Cathedral and at the Royal Albert Hall.
