Are you passionate about a career in acute healthcare? The Trainee Healthcare Assistant Programme is the first step in working towards a future career in nursing.

Working in partnership , Colchester Institute and Colchester Hospital Foundation Trust are offering an exciting 20 month apprenticeship which will provide you with supportive clinical learning of the Healthcare Assistant role, whilst studying for a vocational qualification. We initially have several vacancies and are seeking dedicated college leavers with a vocational qualification in health and social care,  whom we understand may have limited care experience.  Our commitment to you is to nurture your talent to your full potential.

The vacancies can be applied for here through the Apprenticeship Service

Throughout the programme you will be provided with additional training days to enhance your clinical knowledge and skills related to the role of the Health Care Assistant. This may include enhanced EOL care, Nutrition, Communication, as well as enhanced skills training.

On successful completion of the programme you will be offered a permanent Band 2 Healthcare Assistant post.  After this you may be eligible to apply for your Foundation degree and then work based nursing degree.
